Classic Car Tuning

Although NE Motors has kept abreast of the technological advances present in modern cars, we are fully aware that our skills were honed in what can now perhaps be described as the last years of fairly relaxed and unenforced emissions legislation, certainly as far as the car owner was concerned. It was the advent of the mandatory fitment of three way catalytic converters and the subsequent annual testing of their efficiency at the MOT which hammered the final nail into the carburettor and ‘old style’ ignition systems coffin. Since the manufacturers stopped fitting carburettors to new cars there has been an inevitable decline not only in their availability, including parts, but in the skills and know-how to diagnose and repair them. This knowledge of course also has to extend to the ignition system and indeed with the four stroke engine unencumbered with emissions related technology. Whilst our generation were trained in these fields that requirement is not necessary for generations trained since the 1993 emissions/MOT legislation. Therefore we are becoming more and more into the unique position of having both of these skills, experience and equipment to deal with running and tuning problems on the ever increasing classic car parts.
Due to our original specialisation in carburettors in 1989 and acquisition of a rolling road in 1993 we have been able to maintain our skills. This enables us to give an efficient diagnostic and repair service to customers with classic car running and tuning problems.
